Amazing Things to do in Luxembourg

Vacations, we all love them; we all need them. Once a year or once a month, they are a good break from mundane life.

Far from the hustle-bustle of everyday life, one can find some peace while resting on a beach. Some opt for the hills to trek and start a soul-searching tour.

But what do you think of when the word ‘vacation’ comes to your mind? Most people talk about short weekend breaks. Well, why not?

They are fast, concise, and affordable. But some imagine themselves chilling on the streets of Paris; sunbathing on the beaches of the Maldives or exploring the exotic food of Japan.

It is a small landlocked country. Once in Europe, you will find this beautiful town. With Germany in the east, Belgium in the west, and France in the south, Luxembourg is paradise on earth.

If your German and French are strong enough, you are good enough to pack your suitcase and plan your trip to Luxembourg. With that being said, here are the top things to do in Luxembourg.

Things to do in Luxembourg

Being a small city, Luxembourg has to deal with a lot of judgments. People often prefer neighboring countries like Belgium, France, and even the Netherlands. While Europe tours include cities like London and Berlin, Luxembourg rarely finds a place on the list.

But once in the city of Luxembourg, you will realize how much this city has got to offer. Like any other small city, this city too has got a lot of hidden jewels.

For instance, Luxembourg houses more than 130 castles. How interesting is that? There are other regions like the Mullerthal region.

Luxembourg is so versatile; there is so much to explore that once on the land, you will be amazed that there are so many things to do in Luxembourg

Luxembourg city is a great start. The capital promises scenic and lush sights with great viewpoints. Anyone visiting Luxembourg should never skip the countryside tour. You need to save some time for exploring the countryside.

Let’s see what other gems are hiding in Luxembourg.

1. Walk around the old city and explore the aesthetic essence of the city

To explore any city, to discover all the unknown corners and paths, it is necessary to take a walk around. A walk around the city will let you know about the ways, the people, the food, and the true essence of the city.

You should start your adventurous walk with the Old City. It is not a big city, but it has many interesting sights. Start with the place called Guillaume.

It is the main square; here you can see the equestrian monument. This monument is in the name of William II of Orange-Nassau. He was the one to convert Luxembourg into a constitutional monarchy. Right across the square, you will see the beautiful City Hall, also known as Hotel de Ville.

From here just a minute’s walk will take you to the Grand Duke’s Palace. Here you will find yet another architectural marvel, the Parliament of Luxembourg.

Once tired from all the walking, you can seek some refreshment at another leafy square called Place d’Armes. The alfresco restaurants here will satiate your hunger and thirst.

3. Bock Casemates Tour

his is one of the must-dos when in Luxembourg. Do you know back in the day Luxembourg was famous as the ‘Gibraltar of the North’?

The name is so because of its complex fortification system. These are now ruins, mostly. The casemates have historic importance.

It protected the citizens of the city from two major attacks. One during the siege by the French Republican Army and again during World War II. Visiting this place is like turning the pages of a history book.
