The Only All-Inclusive Florida Keys Resort with Glass-Bottom Kayaking and Floating Tiki Bar Adventures

Picture this: we were relaxing in a line of vibrant turquoise Adirondack chairs, overlooking the mesmerizing Florida Bay. Our hands cradled glasses of chilled white wine, taking a break from a pre-sunset leisurely game of launching biodegradable golf balls off the dock.

The tranquil evening was punctuated by the sight of a majestic manatee, trailed by her two calves, grazing on some nearby seagrass.

This unexpected encounter with the gentle giants of the sea marked the epic conclusion of our adventure, serving as the most exhilarating experience since our arrival at Bungalows Key Largo. But who’s complaining? Key Largo isn’t about adrenaline rushes. It’s about sinking into tranquility, pure and simple.

Waterfront Interior View

Bungalows Key Largo, an adults-only sanctuary and the only all-inclusive resort in the Florida Keys, is perhaps the ultimate haven for relaxation in this chain of islands that seems solely designed to preach the gospel of unwinding.

This 12-acre paradise, just a leisurely hour’s drive south of Miami, woos you into staying put. That’s the charm of an all-inclusive vacation – zero stress. No need to scour for activities or make difficult decisions (Paddleboard or kayak? Rum runner or margarita? Why not both!), no need to tote your wallet around or stop yourself from indulging in a second lunch. You’re free to unleash the vacationer within.

Despite an unfortunate fire in May 2019 that devastated the Beach House – the resort’s hub featuring poolside dining at Fish Tales, the upscale Bogie & Bacall’s restaurant, the Living Room lounge, and the Hemingway Bar – Bungalows Key Largo bounced back stronger, reopening doors in December of the same year.

No signs of the past adversity remain; instead, the palm-lined pathways reveal neat rows of identical bungalows, each with a pair of turquoise chairs on the front porch and matching bicycles waiting for a ride. The soothing aesthetics are reminiscent of a calming Marie Kondo episode.

Factor in a pampering massage in the Zen Garden Spa, surrounded by towering bamboo, beachside yoga, and a cruise on a floating tiki bar, and you’ll find yourself as content as a manatee nibbling on seagrass at sunset.

If your 2020 bucket list includes a tropical all-inclusive getaway, here’s your guide to doing it right at Bungalows Key Largo. And the best part? No passport necessary.

Every bungalow features a front porch adorned with Adirondack chairs, a comfy sitting area with a couch, one king or two queen beds, an indoor bathroom with shower, and a private patio with an outdoor soaking tub, shower, and seating area.

DoubleQueen

The light, beach-themed decor, dominated by white and neutral tones with a splash of turquoise, adds to the relaxing vibe. Each bungalow comes with two bicycles parked outside, ready for guests to explore the resort at their own pace.

What are the dining choices? Bungalows Key Largo houses three unique restaurants, each offering a distinct taste and atmosphere. Say goodbye to the monotonous buffet-only all-inclusive experience.

Fish Tales, a resort-casual, Mediterranean-inspired eatery, serves up breakfast (including a Bloody Mary and mimosa bar), lunch (don’t miss the artisanal pizzas), and dinner (fresh pastas, meats, and seafood are a must-try).

For fine dining, head to stylish Bogie & Bacall’s, where a cocktail welcome, rotating five-course dinner, and an expert-curated wine list await. Make sure to reserve a table at check-in to ensure a spot at this sought-after venue.

Sea Señor, a picturesque waterfront venue, is the perfect spot for a sunny lunch with your toes in the sand. As night falls, it transforms into a magical dining space under the twinkling string lights, serving fresh local seafood with a Mexican twist.

And don’t worry about mid-day munchies. Snacks are readily available by the pools, in the Living Room, and at the Sunset Tiki Bar.

What’s there to do? The compact resort is easily walkable, but cycling is a lot more fun. Golf cart pickups are available when needed. The property’s waterfront provides access to a variety of water sports including kayaks (traditional and glass-bottom), paddleboards, water trikes, and snorkeling gear.

Among the other amenities are two swimming pools, a tiki gym, a spa featuring a Himalayan salt room and eucalyptus sauna, group games like corn hole, and an on-site boutique. Guests can participate in yoga classes, day trips via catamaran to Everglades National Park, sunset cruises, scuba diving trips, and tiki boat rides. (Spoiler: a floating tiki bar is even better than a stationary one.)

What’s the damage? The all-inclusive garden bungalows start at $1,200 per night, while waterfront ones begin at $1,500 per night, based on double occupancy. The official check-in time is 4 p.m. and check-out is at 11 a.m., but for an extra $300-600, early check-in (as early as 11:30 a.m.) and late check-out (as late as 3 p.m.) are available based on capacity.
